Safety and defense

At JALVASUB, we are tackling the decarbonization of the security and defense sector by integrating containerized power generation systems designed to supply clean, efficient, and reliable energy to mobile military camps, military transport platforms, and heavy military vehicle propulsion systems.

Defense sector

Operational improvements
The solutions proposed by JALVASUB provide greater autonomy, low acoustic, thermal, and electromagnetic signatures, as well as high reliability and availability.
Strategic and environmental advantages
The solutions proposed by JALVASUB offer technological and energy independence, improved performance, and reduced emissions.

Completed projects

MEDUSA 300

Contractors for the MEDUSA 300 Phase I project for the development and procurement of the fuel cell for the AIP system of the Spanish Navy’s S-80 submarines, in a joint venture with the CIDAUT Foundation, in a project involving the UNED (Las Rozas), CIEMAT, and the CP-CISC.

PEM fuel cells specifically designed for integration with bioethanol reforming and suitable for use in submarines.

HYCOGEN

During the HYCOGEN project, a small-scale prototype of the ULPHE-PEM fuel cell, suitable for compact and portable energy systems, has been developed with satisfactory results, in collaboration with the Fluid Physics Laboratory of the Faculty of Sciences of the UNED and the Institute of Petrochemistry and Catalysis of the CSIC.

The HYCOGEN energy product from JALVASUB Engineering was selected as a highly innovative new product by the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) in the 2017 International Startup Competition “Innovación Océano Azul 4” (Blue Ocean Innovation 4). It develops energy systems based on fuel cells and hydrogen technologies applicable to the propulsion of unmanned vehicles and for portable systems through modular systems.

Compact modular energy systems were obtained for portable use, transportable in a backpack, weighing less than 7 kg.

Modular transportable systems with continuous power of 20W and peaks of 50W.

With autonomy available for mission times of 72 hours.
